http://mfpublishing.wordpress.com/category/uncategorized/

I found this link from the Writer's Forum website -

what do people think?

I'm tempted but it looks a bit - well - not professional - any views?

This one sends off warning bells for me for the following reasons:

* no legitimate publishing operation would use all caps/full justified text/varying fonts in ANYTHING!

* I have done extensive Googling and have been unable to find consistent contact information for MF Publishing

* there is no contact name in Mfpublishing's Blog, just an email address

So, I'd suggest that if anyone's even thinking of sending off a CV and sample work to this operation, do so with eyes wide open. Don't send 'em your best work 'cause I have a feeling it might be used in ways you don't expect. But that's just me being my normal paranoid self. Shocked

That blog certainly looks a mess, but when MF publishing put this information on the UKAuthors forum, they were happy to answer questions, and seemed straightforward enough.

Make of it what you will.

I know of this road when I worked at Bow Road Police Station.

It should be Coborn Road, not Cobon. It wasn't listed as Docklands back in the 80's but guess it is now.

All listings for MF Publishing has it as Cobon Road.

Such a shame. It looked a good opportunity too.

MF Publishing has just joined as a member here at TWI. Perhaps we can find out a little bit more from him/her about the organization and its goals.

No one need apologize, IMO. We are all entitled to question things, right?

I thought I’d just say hello to your forum members for the first time having by chance, read some of these hilariously ridiculous comments (such as we can’t be legit because we used – SHOCK HORROR – capitals and justified text on one of our recruitment postings, or we might steal all your submitted pieces, (if anyone wanted to steal pieces, they could do it at leisure from any website they fancied) And for those curious, we use a business centre at present until we move into our first office.

I hope you'll all just relax, we are writers ourselves, stop being just a tad neurotic and cynical, understand this is all going to earn you writers money, further your careers, and so please send in those stunning examples of your writing genius and let’s hope we enjoy the website’s success together.

Best regards, Paul, Editor-in-Chief

Paul, Paul, Paul... you won't endear yourself to anyone if you tell them to they have made hilariously ridiculous comments and that they should stop being a tad neurotic and cynical.

You mean well, I'm sure, and I've defended you both here and on UKAuthors, but you don't make it easy.

Hi, Paul. Just thought I'd let you know that none of us here at TWI are trying to be cruel. It's just that the information as you've provided it so far on the web doesn't engender a feeling of security.

When I submit my writing, I look for venues that have:

* a track record
* info on the people who run it (bios, publishing credits, etc.)
* a visually pleasing and readable web site

Thus far, all I've seen of your venture is a poorly formatted blog post; loads of identical listings on many other, varied sites; and now a rather snotty post here at TWI.

Perhaps you could let your prospective 'employees' know about more about yourself (do you write? have you been published? do you or have you worked in the writing industry?) and give some indication of where the money is going to come from to pay the writers you hope to hire. This would go a long way towards alleviating people's unease. Thanks!

Hello DonnaG...

If you believe it may be of use to your members, please feel free to utilise my research review on these people.

You can copy it from the other forum or I can post it here, or I can send it to you.

Regards to you all this rain soaked afternoon in London..

Tony... Very Happy

Just stumbled across this:

My skepticism remains intact.

I'm not sure if this will help or confuse, but if it's the same organisation, NECDAF seem to be backing it.

The following appears on the NECDAF website: http://www.necdaf.co.uk/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&p=1049 and if I'm reading it correctly, was posted by the Director of NECDAF, one Oscar Watson. There's also a mfpublishing website mentioned, but on having a look, it's the blog.

[The North East Cultural Diversity Arts Forum (NECDAF) is an organisation governed by volunteer Trustees from local communities, organisations and agencies.

The organisation is run as a charity.

The organisation was set up in 2004 to provide practical services to the cultural, arts and community organisations serving minority ethnic communities in North East England. It employs a Director and Project Coordinator and works closely with the Arts Council England (North East), other funders, and voluntary sector and public sector agencies to develop a sustainable infrastructure for diverse arts in North East England.

Review Writers & Editors Vacancies UPDATE,
by oscarlw@hotmail.com on Sun Jan 25, 2009 10:13 am

MF Publishing London

* All of UK (Home-based)

Contact Recruitment , mfpublishing@ntlworld.com

UPDATE Fri 23 Jan 2009

The applications are now starting to arrive in reasonably good numbers so we’ll be commencing the selection process and starting to go through all the submissions on Monday 2nd Feb. Although the recruitment posts will probably remain online until at least March, and applications will be welcome on an ongoing basis thereafter, it’s probably best to get your application in by 2nd Feb if you can.

Once we have the desired number of suitable writers, we’ll then offer those writers employment with the company.

Writers / Reviewers / Editors – Wanted

Both established & emerging/unpublished new writers ;

for new, high-profile Current-affairs, Arts & Entertainment review Website

MF Publishing London are recruiting several hundred UK-based freelance writers/reviewers for a major new website reviewing TV, Films, Current Affairs, Factual, Childrens’ programming, Arts & Entertainment events and programming. The website will be launched March/April 2009.

We are recruiting both established writers/reviewers but especially new writing talent seeking a professional career having had little or no writing previously published. There will be a huge spectrum of content on the website allowing for a very wide range of writer interests, preferences and experiences. Virtually every subject imaginable will be covered on the website.

These competitively paid positions will initially be part-time and home-based with several full-time positions becoming available once the site is successfully established. The new website will go live once all the writers are on board and the first batch of reviews are ready.

Minimum writer commitment we'd like is at least two 500-600 word reviews per month.
