Shocked I remember Slither when it first came out - it was funny.

Just had to write about THE most awful film I've ever seen:

Match Point - Scarlett Johansen and Jonathon Rhys Wooden.

I honestly couldn't believe this was a Woody Allen movie when I saw the credits.

Acting - Wooden

Script - Banal

Direction - Mediocre

Soundtrack - Miserable

Question

It's only came out either this week or last.

There may have been another 'Slither' out some time ago. I know it's a tried and tested formula...

Shocked Yep - this one's a remake.

The original was 1973 - had a classic scene of two old dears walking below an apartment block with an umbrella, and a gob of splattered alien worm lands on them and they think it's seagulls.

Can't find it on IMDB. Are you sure it 'Slither'?

Quote:
Slither (1973 film)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slither is a film about aliens arriving on Earth in an asteroid, they then proceed to turn everyone in a local farming community into alienized zombies and viral carriers. A remake by director James Gunn was released in early 2006.

It was a very very low budget cult film even then.

WHAT!!!!!!

I feel compelled to say that I couldn't disagree with you more on this one Alan.

I consider Match Point http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0416320/ to be one of the best films I have ever seen - and, of Woody Alan's, probably the best.

The theme of the film is, I think, the role chance (or luck) plays in a person's life. Being in the right place, at the right time, meeting the right people - and also what a person makes of those circumstances.

The film has a magnificent plot and each turn of events for the main character built up the suspense in a way that had me totally absorbed right to the final moments. (Unfortunately, at the showing of the film I was attending, the film broke (or something) very near the end - I'd guess within two or three minutes at the most - which was the only thing that marred an otherwise perfect moviegoing experience.)

This is a film I would certainly see again at the cinema if I ever got the chance and definitely one I hope one day to be able to add to my DVD collection.

Sorry you didn't like this film Alan. Oh well, one man's meat is another man's poison I guess! Confused

Geoff.

P.S. I'm glad you posted though, Alan, as it made it obligatory for me to make an opposing opinion.

Shocked As you quite rightly say Geoffrey - it makes the world go around.

I've been a Woody Allen fan for many years, so this came as a big surprise to me.

I'm not sure whether to go and see this. Having read the book a few years ago I wasn't sure it could be translated to the big screen (especially starring that floppy haired gimpoid with the single acting method).

Judging by SA's comments, the consensus is one-all. Not much help. Anyone else seen it? Beb?

Haven't seen A Skanner Darkly, but want to. Saw the trailer over a year ago & have been eagerly awaiting its release since. I haven't read the book and don't think I will. Being a Bladerunner fan, I gave Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? a go. I know I need to give it more time, but I found it so slow & hard to get into.

Saw Snakes on a Plane last week. Hammy acting, cliched plot, excessive gore, cheap special effects, heaps of beastie fodder & Samuel L Joackson being Samuel L Jackson; everything you want from a creature feature. Great fun!
