| I've signed up for both- which is a kind of madness as I have written a short story for about 18 months and I really don't have the time. But if I talk to time really nicely maybe i will be able to get it to stretch, and if not it would have been fun trying. |

Terrific! I am so thrilled to have you all in there
(with a good luck wish to time-stretching Tess, sounds like a Tardis is required!)
I have a question ...
Would anyone mind if I sent in a poem alongside the entries? Not that I'd score in the competition or anything, just to get feedback and push me to write. And please do not be afraid to say no either. _________________ sometimes impossibility is only a state of mind, and yes, dammit, I do mind! -DP

My view is that there's no problem so long as you also send in an entry fee. There might be a slightly sour taste if you get feedback for nothing when everyone else is having to pay for it. _________________ Website |

I think the organiser might be entitled to a little freebee perk for all the work that's required to run the competition... Just as a small thank you from all of us. |

| I would be happy for Doug to send in entries. And I'd be happy for him to do this without paying a fee, as a "thank you" from us, especially if he's not going to be scored, not going to be entitled to a prize and not eligible for publication in the anthology. |

I would be very happy for Doug to send in entries , and if he is not "in" the competition I don't think he would need to pay the fee. Given how much work the competition must involve it seems quite a small payback to me.
PS: A tardis would be handy- anyone got one? |

People might want to give Doug a 'thank you' present of free critique, and that seems reasonable enough, but is anyone going to give the critic a thank you present for doing a set of extra critiques for nothing? And by nothing, I don't mean for no extra pay, I mean the length of time she will have to give to doing a complete set of critiques for someone who isn't even in the competition. I'm sure Mandy wouldn't object to doing this, but on principle it's wrong. _________________ Website |

| Delph - I don't agree on your assessment that it's wrong in principle. It could be included as part of the package or the judge could just say no. |

We'll have to agree to disagree then. It's no big deal, but I still feel it's taking advantage of the good nature of the judge, and that is wrong.
However, Doug, general opinion seems to be that it's fine, so don't mind me. _________________ Website |

I've just sent my entry fee - looking forward to the competition and will do my best not to fall by the wayside this time....
Thankyou for organising it this year Doug. Please can I confirm I want to enter the fiction side of things - I forgot to mention this on my paypal message. I think if I found i'd been entered into poetry instead the excitement would turn to terror! |

No worries, Kim, fiction noted!
Actually, delph, if it puts your mind at rest on the matter it was Mandy that suggested it to me. If it's a problem though I understand and will humbly just admin. _________________ sometimes impossibility is only a state of mind, and yes, dammit, I do mind! -DP
